OBED Information image

In an effort to provide our patients with excellent, quality care, Norman Regional Health System has elevated the standard of care in the Labor and Delivery area formerly known as labor triage. This area will now be an Obstetrical Emergency Department or OBED.

During the course of your pregnancy, you may be referred to or seek care at the OBED for evaluation and/or treatment of potential urgent medical conditions. This elevated level of care allows for you and your unborn child to be evaluated by a physician who is a board-certified, OB hospitalist 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The OB hospitalist will work closely with your primary physician and the nursing staff to assess your condition, discuss your care options and provide appropriate treatment.

We ask that all unscheduled labor and delivery patients please use the Emergency Entrance located at the east side of Norman Regional HealthPlex.

Please note that your insurance will process any visits to the OBED as an emergency room visit, subject to any co-pays, co-insurance or other applicable fees under your policy.

We sincerely appreciate your trust in our care team and are excited to have an OBED available to our patients. If you have questions, please call 405-515-3500 at any hour of day or night, every day of the week.
